When you walk into any of the Kingston Vet branches you will see the above logo.  We are proud to hold RCVS accredited status at each of our branches, but what is this and why is it important?

What is the Practice Standards Scheme?

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons practice standards scheme was started in 2005, and is a voluntary scheme designed to make sure that the public and their pets receive the best standard of care.  At Kingston Vets, we have regular inspections of the premises and our records to make sure that we are doing the best job we can.

In order to become accredited, practices must demonstrate they uphold standards including staff training, hygiene, emergency cover and equipment.

Different types of practices can receive different types of accreditation.  All our branches are accredited; however, Park Street is an Accredited Small Animal Veterinary Hospital.

This means that we must, among other things:

• Have nursing staff present at the hospital 24 hours a day and a vet available to attend to in-patient’s day or night, 365 days a year.
• Maintain and improve our clinical standards by monitoring our performance and the outcome of our treatments.
• Have a range of specialist equipment, such as ECG and ultrasound (for more information on our advance equipment see our services.)
• Submit to rigorous examination of our facilities, with emphasis on cleanliness and sterility.

This means that we can be confident that we provide the best care for our patients and you can have the same level of confidence in us.

Is an accredited practice more expensive?

An accredited practice should not be more expensive, but it means that we are upfront and transparent regarding costs for our services so that you are never surprised by a bill.

RCVS awards recognises practices that excel in particular areas, and all of our branches have achieved the highest level in the Client Service award, meaning that we have demonstrated the best standard of care for our clients.
